He spent the early years of his career in Advertising. First as a freelancer and production artist and later as an agency art director and eventually he became an agency manager for Hilton Hotels. While there, he managed the advertising for all of Hilton's Arizona Hotels, and nationwide resort hotels. While working with Hilton was rewarding, Michael found that his management duties at Hilton left little time to work on the creative side of the business. Longing for a true creative outlet, Michael accepted a position with The Phoenix Zoo as Creative Director in 1995.
Over the next five years Michael orchestrated all aspects of the Zoo's interpretive programs and events. Designing everything from costumes and banners to special features including parade floats and computer generated interactive effects.
Michael resides in Phoenix and provides a variety of conceptual and environmental design services. He is continually providing creative support and project management for exhibits and projects for local museums, the, hospitality industry, health care, restaurant, retail, recreation and event promotions fields. Michael is the recipient of the G.D Crain Award for National Public Service Advertising. His work with the Phoenix Zoo has received Addy Awards and National recognition with the American Association of Zoo's and Aquariums. |

Michael Hale has been working in the Design field since 1987 after receiving his B.F.A from The University of Arizona.
In his new position as Creative Director, he oversaw the Graphic Design Department and was in charge of the Zoo's advertising, print collateral, and signage. Over the next few years his responsibilities would also come include all of the interpretive design for the exhibits and event design.
He left the Zoo in 2000 to pursue other interests but has continued to design and produce interpretive displays for the Phoenix Zoo as a freelance contractor.
